Tinita Engineering Delivers Cooler Condenser & Pre-Heater for Nitric Acid Plant

Cooler Condenser & Pre-Heater

Mumbai, India – 2023: Tinita Engineering Pvt. Ltd. has successfully designed, built, and delivered a Cooler Condenser to a leading chemical client for use in a Weak Nitric Acid Plant. The project was executed under the technical supervision of ThyssenKrupp (PMC), reaffirming Tinita’s capability in delivering complex static equipment for high-performance chemical process environments.

The equipment was developed for difficult operating circumstances of 8 Kg/cm² pressure and temperatures up to 210°C. It weighs 25 MT. Fabricated using Duplex Stainless Steel (SA 240 UNS S32304 / Uranus 65) for the shell and a combination of SS304 Seamless Tubes and Alloy 28 Tubes, the condenser ensures exceptional corrosion resistance and long service life in nitric acid processing.

The design, measuring 7812 mm × 1900 mm and using a 4-pass tube layout, had key elements including 50 mm tubesheet thickness, 10 mm shell thickness, and 14 mm dish end thickness. It was supported by SS304 expansion bellows. The condenser is made up of 1688 tubes (25.4 mm OD × 2.11 mm Thk × 4914 mm length), of which 1260 are made of SS304 and 428 are made of alloy 28.

This equipment forms a vital part of the nitric acid cooling process, engineered for reliable performance under high thermal and mechanical stress. The use of UNS S32304 Duplex Stainless Steel and Alloy 28 highlights Tinita’s expertise in handling complex metallurgies suited for one of the most corrosive environments in the chemical industry.

This achievement once again demonstrates Tinita Engineering’s growing presence in the chemical and petrochemical sectors, backed by its strengths in advanced metallurgy, world-class fabrication standards, and on-time execution. By providing high-performance exotic alloy equipment, Tinita keeps up its reputation as a reliable partner for PMCs, end customers and EPCs throughout the globe.
