As the gas stream enters the converging section, its velocity increases. The scrubbing liquid is injected either in the converging section or directly at the throat to enhance contact with the gas stream. In the throat, the high-velocity gas breaks the liquid into fine droplets, creating a dense mist. This vigorous mixing effectively captures particles and gaseous pollutants. As the gas moves into the diverging section, its velocity decreases, allowing the droplets to merge. The mixture then flows into a separator, where the liquid drains for recirculation and any remaining mist is eliminated. Venturi scrubbers can be installed in vertical, horizontal, or inclined orientations.
