Working Principle

Vapour enters from the top and flows over a horizontal tube bundle through which cooling water circulates. As the vapour comes into contact with the cold tubes, it condenses into liquid form. The resulting condensate then flows downward to the bottom of the unit. The thin film of condensate formed ensures an excellent heat transfer coefficient, which, however, tends to decrease as the condensate rate increases.
